Guitar education keeps you dependent on the next lesson
Worship guitarists shouldn't have to take a year of lessons and watch every single song tutorial before they pick up a guitar. They should be able to find the information they need to play worship songs now by filling in any gaps or clarification while they continue to play.
Make content easy to find, not a progression of skill levels
We inverted the standard model: instead of a sequential curriculum you complete before you're allowed to play, every guide, song, and tool is mapped to the topic that's needed now. The goal was to be able to find the information you need fast so you can get back to playing guitar. Under the hood, page structure was designed so the instructor can write fast using markdown, and make them easily accessible so new material ships as fast as the content itself is ready, without waiting on engineering. Accounts and membership status sit behind that content layer, gating access for personalization.
Built for the worship volunteer
Most guitar education platforms are built for general hobbyists working through a generic curriculum (think "Intermediate Guitar"). This site is scoped tightly to one job: get guitarists back to playing guitar at their current skill level. There may be a question on what chord voicings to use for a certain transition, or they aren't sure how to play a certain song. This site gives quick and actionable information for any skill level with virtually no prep time.
Outgrowing the framework
The site started on an off-the-shelf documentation framework, which handles written content well but was never designed to feel like a product. Its default navigation and page layout came with fixed behavior that didn't match how guitarists actually move through lessons, chord references, and song pages during a rehearsal. That entire experience was rebuilt in-house so it could be shaped around how people actually use it. It also paid off in speed, increasing from a ~65 PageSpeed Insights score to a 100!
